Choosing the right Competition Oil Cooler for your customer's race car isn't rocket science if you follow these simple guidelines:
Our Aluminum Competition Coolers are engineered for race cars with top
speeds up to 160 miles per hour. The Double Row Headered Competition Coolers are for race
cars running over 160 MPH.
Single Row Competition Coolers work best on short track (¼, 1/3 or
½ mile) race cars running less than 100 MPH. These coolers are also ideal for desert type
off road race vehicles.
Once you have chosen the style of cooler select the proper part number based on the engine
horsepower in our catalog.
Be sure to suggest an
engine adapter and
remote filter mount with each cooler sale!
The cubic feet per minute (CFM) ratings for our High Performance and Standard
Electric Fans listed in our catalog are different from the CFM ratings listed on our
retail packaging. Here's why.
The CFM ratings shown on our packages is based on testing with the electric fans
mounted to a three core radiator, simulating actual usage. We believe that simulating
actual usage is the best and most accurate way to test the fans. Our competitors tested
their fans in what is called a "zero static" condition. That means their fans
were not mounted to a radiator. They were tested, and rated, as "free standing"
units.
The radiator, naturally, restricts the amount of available air to the electric fan.
Electric fans tested in the "zero static" condition will always show
significantly higher CFMs because there is no restriction of air. One reason for using the
"zero static" testing is to produce inflated ratings.
This put us at a disadvantage when our CFM ratings were used to compare us to our
competitors. We re-tested our fans at zero static and used these new ratings when we
produced our Silver Anniversary catalog.
Our electric fan packages now include a label on the back of the box listing the new CFM
ratings.
Whatever the testing method, Perma-Cool® High Performance Electric Fans are
the most powerful fans on the market. Our high RPM pancake motors with oversized dual ball
bearing armature supports, lightweight blade assemblies and open steel fan housings give
these fans the highest CFM ratings in the industry.
Every high performance retailer in the United States and Canada (over 25,000) will
receive our newest sales aid, a color wall poster and 1998 calendar in their January /
February MailServe package from Direct Communications Inc (DCI)
The attention grabbing poster features some of the race cars sponsored by Perma-Cool®
including the Grave Digger monster truck, the Rat Trap Fuel Altered and our Super Comp
dragster, among others. Also pictured are some of our best selling products.
Nothing compares to the level of positive brand name awareness created by wall posters and
banners in retail stores.
We produced our first calendar / poster last year in limited quantities which we
distributed at the SEMA and PRI Shows. The positive response we received convinced us to
expand the program for 1998.
It's no wonder that Perma-Cool® leads the performance industry in designing,
manufacturing and marketing cooling products and related accessories.
Another one of the reasons for the sales increases enjoyed by many Perma-Cool®
distributors year after year is our value added "After the Sale" marketing
support.
Our comprehensive marketing support starts with user friendly cataloging and award
winning packaging. Our high frequency trade advertising and extensive press releases and
tech articles in consumer publications help create and maintain brand name awareness at
both the wholesale and retail level.
Motorsports sponsorships, including individual race teams, race tracks and racing series
in all types of racing puts the Perma-Cool name in front of our primary market during the
peak sales season.
Full time consumer tech support, mini catalog hand outs, wall posters / calendars and many
other things combine to develop sales for our dealers.
No other cooling products company works as hard to support their customers. Its no wonder
that Perma-Cool® is the industry leader in cooling products and accessories.
We are pleased to announce our sponsorship of Don Green and Ron Hope's famous Rat
Trap AA/Fuel Altered for the 1998 season. For more than 25 years the Rat Trap has been a
favorite of fuel altered fans all over the country.
The race car was restored last year and, with Ron Hope driving, ran at local west coast
nostalgia races. The highlight of the year was their much publicized match race appearance
at the NHRA Nationals at Indy.
The Perma-Cool® Rat Trap, as it is now called, is powered by a supercharged
Donovan aluminum hemi engine running nitro-methane fuel. The car will be racing at several
NHRA national meets as well as nostalgia races, etc.
The addition of the Rat Trap to our 1998 marketing campaign will increase our exposure to
our primary market, performance enthusiasts and we are pleased to welcome the entire Rat
Trap organization to our racing family.
